I DISCOVERED SOMETHING TERRIBLE TONIGHT

DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO BE SAD.

So I was watching “All Dogs Go to Heaven” (Yes I’m an adult. Yes it’s Friday night. Don’t judge me.) and I say to myself “I wonder what happened to the actress that did the voice of the little girl, Anne Marie” so I IMDB’d her figuring a) she’s someone famous, b) she became a teacher like the kid who was Danny in “The Shining”, or c) something in between.

Ducky is happy. What about the girl who voiced her?

Thing I did not expect: Judith Barsi died at age eleven, before either of those movies were released.

Judith Barsi

Oof.

So I said to myself, “Well, that’s pretty terrible. I wonder if she had a disease or was in a terrible accident…”

But nope! It’s not nearly as innocuous as than that.

Reading on, turns out she was physically and mentally abused throughout her life before being murdered by her dad in 1988. He shot her, her mother, and set the house on fire. Then he shot himself. The bodies were discovered two days later because Judith missed an audition for a Hannah Barbera cartoon.

Her toys that weren’t destroyed in the fire were donated to charity. A neighbor took care of the surviving cats. Judith and her mother were buried in unmarked graves. Her fan club rose funds and markers were installed in 2004.

I was having a bad day and thought I would cheer myself up with some nostalgia but that backfired horrifically. Judith Barsi has been dead for nearly 25 years. And that’s just awful.

All Dogs Go to Heaven, Judith Barsi

I don’t believe in god, but I hope Judith Barsi got to go to heaven.
