Adding to the allure for children, the owls are of the same species as Hedwig, the faithful companion of the fictional wizard Harry Potter, which perished defending him in the final book of the series.

The New York Times “Bird-Watchers Revel in Unusual Spike in Snowy Owl Sitings”

ERRRR WRONG. That’s Hedwig’s demise in the movie, not the book. Does this mean the Times will have to issue another hilarious correction?

The book 40,001 best Baby names, published in 2003, includes a lot of fun lists including ”Famous mob names”, “Girl names teachers can’t pronounce”, and “Boy names for children of lesbians and gays”.
Wait, what?
I didn’t realize homosexual couples had certain names that they had to use. I know some dads that have broken these rules…

How Harry Potter Should Have Ended

Mission Unpossible: Read all the Harry Potter’s Prior to the Midnight Opening

Mission: FAILED!

Well, I almost made it. I got to page 503 in Deathly Hallows before heading to the movie, which brought up to the end of Part One.

But, even though I didn’t achieve my goal, I’m pretty proud of myself.

Considering that over these past 12 days I’ve had work, a July 4th bbq, an impromptu trip to Atlantic City (I can’t read in cars so that was reading time lost), a bridal shower, a going away gathering for a good friend, and myriad other distractions, I feel I did well.

I read 3,920 pages between the night of July 3rd and roughly 10:30pm, July 14th, and that’s no small feat.

The movie was amazing, by the way. I cried. A lot. Neville was friggen awesome.

I’m sure I’ll have more intelligible things to say, but as it’s now 3:30 in the morning, I think I’ll stop for now.

Last leg of Harry Potter and the Ridiculous Quest to Read All the Books

It is 8:45. I am starting Deathly Hallows… NOW!

Oh hey blog…

Sorry I haven’t been around AT ALL the last few days. I’ve been reading furiously (more than halfway through Order of the Phoenix! Maybe I can finish it tonight? Provided I have no intention on being well rested for work tomorrow?).

Anyway, does anyone have any insight into how Harry got the Marauders Map back from Moody/Crouch? Book 4 - Moody/Crouch has it. Book 5 (aka Harry and the Raging Hormones), it’s back in his possession.

Or have I been reading these books too much that I’m noticing nonsense like this?

Who cares! I have roughly 5 million pages to read in the next three days!

A Very Harry Update

363 pages into Goblet of Fire. I should probably stop drinking wine and go to bed because the aftermath of the first task (Ron and Harry becoming friends-on again) made me cry.

Just kidding, I’m going to have another glass and read another few chapters.

I have six days to finish the last four books. I have a full time job. I have adult obligations. CAN IT BE DONE?

Probably not, but I’m certainly going to try!

The Great Harry Potter rerereread: Update

Books 1 and 2 are done and I’m 211 pages into Book 3.

Can I finish them all before midnight on the 15th? Only time will tell!

Jul 3

Today is July 3rd. The final Harry Potter movie opens at midnight, July 15th.

Can I rerereread the entire series between now and then?
