My friend Geoff wants to make a movie. Unfortunately, he’s not Zach Braff. Help make “Some Guys Are Bigger Than Others” by donating to Geoff’s indiegogo campaign!
Because, crowd-sourcing isn’t just for well established industry professionals who can depend on their already existing fan-base to fully fund their projects in less than 72 hours.
My coworker filmed and edited this video documenting the sheer scope of the damage Hurricane Sandy wrought on Staten Island.
For a point of reference, here’s what the Victory Diner used to look like:
AT first glance, there is nothing remarkable about the house on Richmond Avenue. Encased in gray vinyl siding and surrounded by the kind of suburban sprawl that covers much of Staten Island these days — a Perkins restaurant and a Wendy’s across the street, the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Expressway a stone’s throw away — it could easily pass as just another 20th-century addition to this north shore neighborhood.
But under the vinyl siding is a very old house with a haunting past: it was here, over 150 years ago, that Polly Bodine lived with her parents.
Polly who?
[…]
The name may not ring many bells these days, but in her time, Polly Bodine was as infamous as Lizzie Borden, as reviled as O. J. Simpson. She was, in the words of P. T. Barnum, ”the Witch of Staten Island.”
Fan of Ingrid Michaelson? Live near NYC?
Come see her perform in her hometown of Staten Island this month!
Tickets start at $30. And you’ll be supporting a great local museum!
The projectors at the St. George Theatre are still up in the booth, trained toward the stage. So cool.
I know I’ve posted this before, but this is stuck in my head post-LUMEN (which was awesome!)
I miss this sign. I was so bummed when it came down.

From the land of “Unnecessary” Quotation Marks comes, its bastard love-child, (Unnecessary) Parentheses!
Tonight on Ghost Hunters, they investigate Snug Harbor Cultural Center in Staten Island.
My first job was working at an information booth at Snug and last October, Mr. Lemon and I had our wedding there.
I’ve heard lots of stories about strange things happening in the buildings, especially the Matron’s Cottage, so I’m really excited to see if they find anything!
